Never NOT Learning

We’re big fans of online enrichment; here are some sites that we think are cool.

It’s become easier than ever to learn new skills and expand your knowledge base with the advent of online learning communities. There are so many out there to choose from - how do you know which one will give you the most bang for your buck? Well, it depends on what you want to learn. Some are wide-ranging and others are much more specific. Let’s get into it!

This is one of the biggest and most popular of online enrichment sites. It has more than 200+ classes taught by experts and celebrities. It is more inspirational than instructional (in my humble opinion). Think Serena Williams teaching tennis stroke fundamentals, Martha Stewart on how to be a “boss” and Kris Jenner sharing her secrets to personal branding.

Cost: Anywhere from $10-20/month (billed annually)

Another large site with wide ranging subjects, Skillshare is more for creatives. Graphic design, social media, content creation and digital photography are some of the more popular categories. I have personally taken many Canva courses as well as beginner watercolor painting. They are practical and very easy to follow.

Cost: $99/year

We discovered this British creative online resource through Instagram and just had to delve deeper. Aside from the fact that it is a beautiful site, we were drawn to the creative aspect of its classes.  With over 1000 immersive courses, taught by interior designers, makers, gardeners and chefs, Create Academy is truly a way to unlock your creative confidence.

Cost: Varies with each course.

Ok, now this is a FUN one! Run by Elizabeth Schneider, this is a podcast, wine education and media company all rolled into one. Elizabeth holds live classes on a specific region or type of wine. After you enroll, you will get a wine list for that class so that you can be tasting the wines that Elizabeth is talking about. This is a great interactive class that you can do alone or have your friends (who can be all over the country) take as well. All classes are about 2 hours long.

Cost: $30/class

You’re heading to Italy next month for your anniversary. You’ve got “Ciao” and “Grazie” down but don’t know much beyond that. Pimsleur has got you covered. Developed by Dr. Pimsleur, this language program was devised to cut to the heart of every language by getting rid of the information overload. It is all conversational and can be practiced while driving to work or taking your hot mom walk. It uses the principles of graduated interval recall, anticipation, core vocabulary and organic learning. Download the app on your phone and you’re ready to go. If you devote 30 minutes a day, you’ll be asking for that second glass of vino in Rome in no time. Andiamo! (Cara’s pick!)

Cost: $19.95/month

This mindfulness website offers a plethora of classes for body, mind and spirit. Some of Karen’s favorite classes: “Go Sleeveless in 14 Days”, “Fascia Flows to Free Your Body” and “Somatic Exercises to Relax and Release”. Yes please to all of these! Once you download the course, it is yours forever. It also has an Astrology section if you are into that kind of thing (I am!). This is a great resource for self-help and exploration in a holistic manner.

Cost: $35/class (suggested amount)
