Easy Breezy Entertaining
The key to a successful gathering isn’t how much time you spend running around trying to “make it perfect”. Save your energy for all the fun you’re going to have and focus on the things that make people feel comfortable and are memorable. Prep anything you can in advance and don’t be afraid to order from a restaurant (just transfer it to fun serving pieces that make it look special), clip some flowers or branches from your yard and bring out the cloth napkins!
The Menu
When deciding on a menu, unless you are planning on a formal sit down dinner, this is not the time to try difficult recipes that require hours of prep and synchronized heating!
Opt for interesting salads with grains and proteins, fun pre-made sandwiches or tacos.
I love to fill cups with pre-portioned servings, so people can just grab and still mingle
The Beverages
Whether you are going boozy or not, have some pre-batched cocktails and mocktails waiting for guests when they arrive.
Extra points if you match your drinks with the theme - either by color or food type.
I like to have drinks ready to go in dispensers or pitchers with plenty of glasses and ice nearby, so guests can help themselves.
The Vibes
It’s all about the vibes! This is your chance to have some fun and get creative. String some party lights or light some candles or tiki torches, come up with fun ways to “style” the food - use mason jars, vintage glassware, lots of tiered serving trays. And don’t forget the music, so either download an awesome playlist or make your own.
O’So Pro Tip: Nothing ruins an outdoor party more than bugs, so have some natural bug spray handy and keep your food covered or run a small fan by the table. These work really well!
